Yes, America is vast and there’s an incredible array of places to visit and all sorts of delights to experience – but Florida should always be at the top of your list… and here’s why!

Everglades National Park

Spare lots of time to explore the 1.5 million acres of marshes and swamps in the Everglades, the second biggest national park in the US. Look out for panthers, crocs, turtles, otters and lots, lots more – and make sure you arrange a boat trip on one of the days you’re in the area.

The Kennedy Space Centre

Hop on a bus and be whisked around this massive complex (all 140,000 acres of it), then spend some time exclaiming over the different exhibitions and displays in the visitor centre. If you’re lucky and time your trip right, you might even be able to watch a rocket launch!

Fort Lauderdale

This city is renowned around the world for its culture, arts, beaches and lots more. Head to Las Olas Boulevard for a spot of shopping, hop on a gondola and float down the canals, discover the landscaped beachfront promenade for yourself, and check out Millionaires Row where you’ll see some incredible yachts and mansions. Make sure you follow the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk for a great day out.

St Augustine’s Historic District

This is one of the oldest settlements in Florida and if you’re something of a history buff you’ll absolutely love the different historic sites and amazing examples of architecture. The oldest masonry fort in North America can be found here – the Castillo de San Marcos. Even if you’re not into your history this is worth a visit for the views of the coast alone.

Discovery Cove

Fancy swimming with some dolphins and snorkelling with the manta rays? Then make your way to Discovery Cove, where you can get really up close and personal with all sorts of different marine animals. The freshwater lagoon is also a must-visit, where you’ll be able to feed tropical birds and spot lots of beautiful little otters.

Wekiwa Springs State Park

Drive just 20 minutes from Orlando and you’ll come across the Wekiwa River – a watering hole that offers the perfect respite from the hot Florida weather.
